The Boulder Junction Community Foundation accepted a donation from the Boulder Junction Bike Trail Up-Shift Group which was in turn awarded as a grant to the Town of Boulder Junction in the amount of $4400.00. The grant was used to install two bike repair stations or fixtations located along the Boulder Junction legs of the over 45-mile Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System at the intersections of Hwy H/Hwy K and Hwy M/Hwy N. A fixtation is an outdoor bike stand with several bike tools and a tire pump built into it. These fixtations can accommodate two bicycles at one time.
In addition to the fixtations, the Town of Boulder Junction also installed mile markers along the trail which are colored coded to the various legs. The mile makers not only show how far along the trail riders are but also are a safety feature so if bicyclists have an emergency they are able to call and identity their location. Also new this year are kiosks which showcase a detailed map, area events and safety information.
